Railway work calls for specialists
Work on and next to the railway is different from an ordinary construction site. Trains often run close to the work area, and many tasks have to be done during short track possessions at night or at weekends. That is why experience, planning and safety are crucial – both for the people doing the work and for the operation of the railway.
Trades we help with
- Track workers for track renewal, track maintenance and replacing rails and sleepers
- Track safety officers, who protect the work area from moving trains
- Overhead line fitters for masts, suspension and contact wires
- Signalling fitters for cables, signals and interlocking systems
- Rail welders for welding and grinding rails
- Plant operators for on-track machines
Typical projects
- Renewal of track, sleepers and ballast
- Electrification and maintenance of overhead lines
- Signalling and cable work
- Platforms, bridges and other structures along the railway
- Metro and light rail projects
Safety and approvals
Special safety rules apply when work is carried out on or close to the track. Workers will typically need to have completed the safety courses and approvals required by the infrastructure manager – for example Banedanmark, which manages the state-owned rail network. The requirements depend on the job and on where the work takes place. State in your booking which courses and approvals the project requires, and we will take them into account in our proposal.
Irregular working hours
Track possessions are often at night, at weekends and during holidays, and plans can change at short notice. Please state working hours and possession periods when you book, so we can find people who can cover them.
Workers or contracting?
If you need people for your own team, you can hire them by the hour via book workers. If a defined part of the project is to be carried out by us for an overall price, you can instead get a quote for contracting.
