What kind of cleaning?
Cleaning covers many different tasks, and they require different experience. So describe what needs cleaning and how often.
Daily cleaning
Offices, communal areas, canteens and toilets to a fixed schedule. Here, consistency and thoroughness matter most, and it is an advantage if the same people come each time.
Deep cleaning and move-out cleaning
Thorough cleaning of everything from windows and frames to kitchens and bathrooms, for example when a flat needs preparing for a new tenant, or when the office needs a refresh.
Builders' cleaning
Removing construction dust, paint splashes and sealant residue once the tradespeople have finished. This often happens in stages: a rough clean during the work and a final clean just before handover.
Industrial and production cleaning
Cleaning of production areas, machinery and warehouses, often outside production hours. Food businesses are subject to special requirements for hygiene and cleaning methods. Cleaning and disinfection often have to be done in a specific order and documented as part of the company's own-check system (egenkontrol).
Cleaning outside working hours
A lot of commercial cleaning takes place early in the morning, in the evening or at weekends. That calls for a clear agreement on access:
- how keys, key fobs or alarm codes are handed over securely
- which areas are to be cleaned, and which must not be touched
- who the cleaner can contact if something goes wrong
- where the cleaning trolley, products and waste should be kept
Methods and products
Agree which cleaning products and equipment are used, and who supplies them. Colour-coded cloths and buckets help prevent bacteria from being carried from the toilets to the kitchen. If you use a quality standard such as INSTA 800 or a fixed cleaning plan, please send it along.
Cleaning products can be hard on the skin and airways. Make sure gloves are available, and have the safety data sheets for the products used.
A physical job
Cleaning involves many repetitive movements. Mop systems with telescopic handles, trolleys at the right height and machines for large floor areas make a real difference to the person doing the cleaning. If work at height is involved, for example on high shelving or windows, mention it, as it requires the right equipment.
What we need to know
- type of premises and approximate number of square metres
- frequency and times
- special requirements, e.g. food hygiene or access rules
- whether it is a one-off job or an ongoing arrangement
- start date and any end date
How we work
