Forklift drivers
Forklift drivers for hire – certified and experienced with your trucks
A forklift driver needs a forklift certificate, but experience with your particular truck type and warehouse matters just as much. Tell us what needs to be driven, and we will look for a good match.

The certificate is the starting point
Driving most forklift trucks requires a forklift certificate, and that is our starting point when we find a forklift driver for you. But a certificate does not tell the whole story. A driver who has operated a counterbalance truck at a timber merchant is not necessarily comfortable in a reach truck at full lift height in a high-bay warehouse.
That is why we ask which trucks you use and under what conditions they are driven.
Which truck do you use?
State the truck type in your booking. The most common are:
- Counterbalance truck: for loading and unloading lorries and for driving outdoors
- Reach truck: for putting goods away in racking, often at great height
- Stand-on truck and electric pallet truck: for short transfers and work at the loading dock
- Order picker: where the driver is lifted up and picks directly from the racking
- Narrow-aisle truck: for very narrow aisles in high-bay warehouses
If a telehandler, crane or other machinery also needs to be operated, let us know, as these require other certificates.
Typical tasks for a forklift driver
- loading and unloading lorries and containers
- putting away and retrieving goods from high racking
- supplying production lines with raw materials and packaging
- moving finished goods to dispatch
- registering movements in the warehouse system with a scanner
- daily inspection of the truck before it is used
Safety on your site
Trucks and pedestrians in the same area are a well-known risk in any warehouse. Make sure the new forklift driver is given an introduction to your traffic rules, driving zones, ramps and any special loads before driving begins.
At the loading dock, there should be clear rules on when a trailer may be driven into and how it is secured against moving off. If the driver will also change or charge batteries, make sure they receive instruction in this.
It is also a good idea to have an experienced colleague accompany them at first. Even a seasoned forklift driver needs time to learn your locations, rack heights and routines.
What to tell us when you book
- truck type and lift height
- what is being lifted: pallets, roll cages, timber, coils or something else entirely
- whether driving is indoors, outdoors or both
- shift times, e.g. day, evening or night
- whether the driver will also pick, pack or work in goods receiving
- start date and expected duration
If you need both forklift drivers and people for pick and pack, we can look at it as a whole. Also read about hiring warehouse workers.
