Painters
Hire a painter for interior and exterior painting
Need filling, painting or wallpapering done before a handover or a new tenant? We look for painters who suit the scope of the job and the finish you expect.

Painters often come last – and have the least time
On many construction projects, the painters are among the last trades on site. When the other trades are running late, it is the painters' time that gets squeezed, while the handover date stays fixed. That is one of the most common reasons for hiring a painter.
Other typical situations include:
- refurbishing flats when tenants move out
- facades and exterior woodwork in the summer half of the year
- larger office and commercial projects carried out in phases
- illness or holidays in your own painting team
Tasks a painter typically handles
- covering up and preparing rooms and surfaces
- filling, full skimming and sanding
- painting walls, ceilings, woodwork and radiators
- hanging glass-fibre wallcovering and wallpaper
- spraying with airless equipment
- exterior treatment of facades, windows and doors
- sealing around trims, frames and joints
Describe the surface – so we get it right
Two painters can have very different strengths. Some are fast on large areas with a spray gun, others are strong on finish and detail. That is why it helps us if you describe:
- The substrate: new plasterboard, concrete, old plaster or wood
- The finish: fully skimmed and perfectly smooth, or a maintenance treatment
- The scope: number of square metres or rooms, if you know it
- The conditions: occupied home, empty building or active construction site
With that information, we can suggest a painter who has done similar jobs before.
Also agree how the result will be reviewed. Going through the first room together before the rest is painted is a simple way to agree on the finish before many hours have been spent.
Exterior work: the weather decides
Exterior painting requires dry weather and temperatures that suit the product, so check the product data sheet. Build some slack into the schedule, and consider whether the painters can move indoors on rainy days so they are not left standing idle.
Materials and equipment
Agree in advance who supplies paint and filler, and who provides ladders, scaffolding, lifts and spray equipment. Many painters have their own hand tools, but it is best to have larger equipment sorted before the start, so nobody is left waiting.
Working environment
Use the products' safety data sheets, and make sure there is ventilation, extraction and protective equipment where needed. Work with epoxy and isocyanates requires a special course, so mention it in your booking if the job includes, for example, epoxy coating of floors.
