Bricklayers

Bricklayers for hire – for new builds, renovation and wet rooms

Do you need a bricklayer for brickwork, rendering, tiling or facade renovation? We help you find a bricklayer and, if needed, a labourer to go with them, so the crew works from day one.

Bricklaying covers a lot of ground

The bricklaying trade covers far more than bricks and mortar. When you hire a bricklayer, it is therefore a good idea to describe exactly what work lies ahead, so we can find someone with the right experience. Typical tasks include:

  • building facades in fair-faced brickwork and inner leaves in blockwork
  • rendering and bagging, both outdoors and indoors
  • tiling in bathrooms and other wet rooms, including the waterproofing membrane
  • repointing and repairing older brickwork
  • casting floors and smaller concrete jobs
  • reveals, sills, chimneys and other details that call for practised hands

Wet rooms require particular care

In bathrooms, the membrane must be applied according to the manufacturer's system, and mistakes often only show once the damage has been done. So let us know whether the bricklayer will lay both the membrane and the tiles, and which system is used. Then we can look for a bricklayer with experience of exactly that kind of job.

Bricklayer and labourer: a crew that works together

A bricklayer gets the most done when someone keeps the mortar, bricks and scaffolding in order. On larger jobs it therefore often makes sense to hire a bricklayer together with a labourer who can mix, carry and keep the site tidy.

Tell us how many bricklayers you already have on site. Then we can suggest a solution that fits in with your own crew rather than standing alongside it.

Plan around the weather and the season

Bricklaying depends more on the weather than many other trades. Mortar and render need to be able to cure, and in frost the work typically requires covering, heating or other winter measures. This affects both the pace and the equipment that needs to be on site.

Spring and summer are peak season for facades and exterior work. If you know what you need, contact us in good time.

Dust and the working environment

Cutting and grinding brick, concrete and natural stone produces quartz dust. So agree in advance whether there will be water-cooled tools, extraction and respiratory protection. When renovating older buildings, an asbestos course may also be needed, depending on what is to be demolished or drilled into.

What we need to know when you book

  • what type of bricklaying work is involved
  • whether there is scaffolding, and who will erect it
  • whether you provide tools, a mixer and materials
  • working hours, start date and expected duration
  • site access, storage and parking

One contact, even when several suppliers are involved

Some of the bricklayers we propose are employed by us, others come from approved partners. It makes no difference to you: you deal with one contact person, and nothing is agreed until you have seen and accepted our specific proposal.
